Candles made from soybeans

Burning a paraffin candle is similar to running a petroleum-based diesel engine in your home. Paraffin candles releases soot and toxic gasses into the air in your home that you breathe, and are a major contributor to indoor air pollution. Many people are known to be sensitive to candles (a body does not appreciate breathing toxic smoke, afterall) - but are able to enjoy Soja Soy Candle because they are a much cleaner burning candle, made from a naturally renewable resource.

Soy candles are so much better than paraffin candles in fact, it's a wonder anyone would choose paraffin candles over soy candles. We're confident that you'll choose soy candles over paraffin candles once you know the facts, see the difference and compare the products.

Common paraffin candles ruin painted walls
Pictured here is where a table was set in the corner of a room where common paraffin wax candles where burned, only occasionally. Notice the soot damage done to the walls. This damage was done in less than 1 year's time, requiring the entire room to be repainted. Just imagine all that toxic soot that didn't attach to the wall, and was dispersed elsewhere, or worse yet - inhaled.

Common paraffin leaves jars hard to clean and caked with dirty black soot
This jar shows the hard to clean, dirty dark soot built up on the inside of a common paraffin wax candle. This buildup occurs in just a matter of minutes, and can be a real pain to clean. Any candle aficionado is well familiar with these problems, due to the over abundance of the petroleum by-product that is paraffin wax. Make those toxic, sooty fossil fuel problems a thing of the past with sustainable, all naturally occuring, clean burning, lo-soot SojaCandles!

Toxins in Paraffin Wax
The state of California, under its Proposition 65 (Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986), has identified at least seven major toxins in paraffin wax, including toluene, benzene, methyl ethyl ketone (MEK), and naphthalene--substances found in paint, lacquer and varnish removers. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has determined that toluene and benzene are probable human carcinogens. Burning paraffin candles for long periods indoors produce toxin levels that are higher than the EPA's guidelines.

In 2001, the American Lung Association issued warnings that candles are a common unrecognized cause of poor indoor air quality. The National Association of Home Builders has received increasing reports implicating candles as a major cause of Black Soot Deposition (BSD) that damages home interiors and contents, not to mention skin and lungs. These microscopic particles -- smaller than 2.5 microns -- are recognized by the EPA as responsible for aggravating respiratory illnesses, especially in children.

Just say no to burning candles made from refined petroleum. Sadly Mr. Cheney does not support sojacandles made from soy wax - instead he wholeheartedly endorses toxic paraffin candles, and the wars fought over the same resource. Quite sad really.

Soy candles from sojacandles.com have many benefits over paraffin candles: Soy candles are longer lasting, soy candles are more fragrant, soy wax is easier to clean from your carpet, and soy candles are better for the environment.
